Friday’s pubbage @ lunch venue was the Princess Alice (40-42 Commercial Street) which we’d never been to before.
A very nice pub, good service and excellent food. I had a steak and chips, the steak was cooked to pefection and very tasty, and the chips were proper, home made chunks of real potato – a refreshing change!
The only thing which let it down was the lack of real ales – it has a good selection of lagers and Guiness, but very little in the way of real ales (I counted two pumps, one which was out of use, and the other was waiting for a newly-changed cask to settle). Not much of a problem for me as I’m happy with a lager, but an annoyance for Simon, our beer connoisseur.
I’d thought about joining Facebook a few times when friends mentioned it, but never bothered signing up. To be honest, I think I expected it to be much like MySpace – full of ugly, garish, horribly-“designed” pages filled with immature drivel :)
I gave in the other day when a couple of friends from work recommended it, and I have to say I’m *very* impressed. It’s full of features to help everyone stay in contact. I’m particularly impressed with the photo upload tool and the ability to “tag” people in photos – very slick. It’s a clean, simple design, and there’s plenty of slick AJAXy magic in use, to make the site even nicer to use.
I watched Ghost Rider tonight, and I have to say I’m actually quite impressed.
I didn’t know whether it would be any good, and I have to admit it was somewhat far-fetched in places (but then, it’s a fantasy storyline, based on a Marvel comic, so I guess that’s allowed!), but overall it was very good.
Nicolas Cage put in a rather good performance as the Ghost Rider, alongside the rather aesthetically pleasing Eva Mendes. Continue reading Review: Ghost Rider→
