“Transformer suit” video – this looks like fun!
Now this looks like a *lot* of fun – a French guy called Jean-Yves Blondeau aka "Rollerman" made a roller-suit with 30-odd wheels attached, so you can skate along in any position you like.
*Edit*: here’s another video showing the suit close up, and how easily he can change to “skate” in any position:
Blog moved to new server again
Right, moved the blog again to another server, things should be quite a lot quicker now.
I’m also using the WP-Cache plugin, and I’ll probably install one of the PHP accelerators (like E-Accelerator) to speed things up even more.
Your favourite scripts / web apps
UK2 asks "What scripts have you found most useful during the last year?"
Ditlev from UK2 is trying to put together a list of the most popular scripts & web apps and asks for feedback on your favourites – whether it’s WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, phpBB, phpMyAdmin, SquirrelMail or any of the thousands of scripts out there, go and cast your vote :)
Reunion of lion and “parents” – we’re all just animals
This lion was raised by humans and then released into the African wild. See how both the “parents” and the lion react when they see each other for the first time after being separated for an entire year…
Amazing stuff. Found this via Daniel Miessler’s blog.
If you’re going to spam, do it right
Recently I’ve received a number of spams where it looks like the spammer hasn’t set up their spamming tool properly, containing just placeholders:

C’mon, if you’re going to spam a message to thousands of people, at least test it first!
Need a Pownce invite?
I decided to try out Pownce. It looks to be pretty good, although signing up with Firefox didn’t seem to want to work – it slowed Firefox to an absolute crawl, and kept telling me my postcode was invalid. (I’m wondering if it was something to do with not having Javascript turned on, although I’d think that’d make it faster?).
Pownce is, in their words, “a way to send stuff to your friends. What kind of stuff? You can send just about anything: music, photos, messages, links, events, and more. You can do it all on our web site, or install our lightweight desktop software that lets you get out of the browser.”
I have 6 invites to give out if anyone wants them… let me know in the comments if you want one (and make sure to leave a valid email address so I can send it to you, obviously!).
Meissner Effect – amazing stuff
WP/K2 bug in <!–more –> tags?
Started using the code editor in WP rather than the visual editor, as the visual editor annoyed me on a few occasions by mangling my code in ways I didn’t want it to.
In my last post, I typed the <!–more–> "more" seperator the proper way with a space before the close of the comment (i.e. <!–more –>) and the “Continue reading…” link didn’t appear. Not sure if it’s a problem with WordPress or with the K2 theme I’m using… must investigate.
Edit: actually I guess upgrading to the very latest WP version would be a good first move.
Listening to Shoutcast streams on a Wii
Just got my Wii tuned in to a Shoutcast radio stream using WiiHear.com – pretty neat :) Now if only it had tabbed browsing, so I could leave it in the background and do something else…. perhaps I need to make a little frameset with a thin frame containing a Flash streaming player, so you can load another page in the main frame.
